This includes natural disasters like floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes, as well as man-made incidents such as roadway incidents, hazardous material spills or terrorist attacks. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining emergency response plans, conducting training and exercises for emergency personnel, coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies, and managing public information and communication during crises. The department also oversees disaster recovery efforts, ensuring that affected communities receive necessary resources and support to rebuild and recover. Their ultimate goal is to enhance the resilience and safety of the community.
